2012 Mr. Hockey candidate Charlie Sampair recently made a verbal commitment to play for the UMD Bulldogs. The Hill-Murray forward collected 30 goals and 21 assists in the 2011-2012 season leading the Pioneers to a second place finish at the state tournament. There was talk at the end of the season that Sampair might head for the WHL next season, but his commitment gives him the chance to stay in state for the next four years. His commitment follows teammate Blake Heinrich, who committed to the Bulldogs last month. Sampair is expected to be in Duluth in the fall and play for the Bulldogs this season as a true freshman.
